Pam Rose

Pam Rose has been a dedicated member of Urban Roots since its early days, making it her first stop every spring and throughout the gardening season. Living in Parkside with her husband, Joel, two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and four cats, she deeply values the unique plant selection and expert guidance Urban Roots provides. She is especially inspired by the cooperative’s role in revitalizing the local community.

As a longtime participant in the Buffalo Garden Walk, its predecessor the Parkside Garden Walk, and Open Gardens, Pam has worked to create a sanctuary in the city—a mini arboretum surrounded by perennials, many of them native. Her passion for nurturing living organisms extends beyond plants to animals, reflected in her extensive volunteer work. She is a founding and board member of Pets Alive WNY, a volunteer Docent at the Buffalo Zoo, and a participant in the SPCA Paws for Love therapy dog program. She also runs Therapy Animals of Western New York (TAWNY), a solo service that helps connect people with resources to locate, train, raise, and certify therapy animals and service dogs.

Professionally, Pam is a full-time medical librarian at the University at Buffalo, specializing in Consumer Health and serving individuals in the community. Her career and volunteer work have allowed her to develop a wide range of skills that intersect in meaningful ways—something she considers one of the greatest joys of her life.
